Green, Kolter Added to Concordia Soccer Recruiting Class
PORTLAND, Ore.—Following the announcement of eight signees to Concordia’s women’s soccer team in February, head coach Grant Landy has announced the addition of Kianna Green and Alicia Kolter to its 2013 recruiting class.
Kianna Green will join the Cavaliers after originally signing with Central Washington University in 2012. Green, a Portland native and Grant High School graduate, will enter the Concordia program as a redshirt freshman after sitting out last season due to injury.
Green is an accomplished defender out of Grant High School where she was selected to the second-team all-state team as a senior for the Generals. Green was also a three-time letterwinner for Grant’s swimming team and will join her brother, Jordan, at Concordia. Jordan is an all-conference player for the Cavalier men’s soccer team.
In addition, Green played club soccer and won the U-17 Oregon State Cup for the Westside Metros along with current Cavs Alicia Alarcon-Evans, Nicole Franklin, McKayla Madison and Ariel Kanable.
“I felt we needed a little more depth for our backline going into the fall, so finding Kianna so late in the process is very exciting,” Landy said. “She is fast, physical, and can play a variety of backline positions. Her drive and hard work as she was coming back from injury last fall has really impressed me. I am confident by August she will be back to competing at a high level and impacting our backline.”
Alicia Kolter, from Redondo Beach, Calif., will arrive at Concordia after a standout career at Redondo Union High School. Kolter was a first-team all-league player for the Sea Hawk’s before attending Fresno City College.
At Fresno City, Kolter scored five goals and notched eighth assists for the Central Valley Conference champions, leading the Rams to a 17-5-2 record and a No. 9 national ranking.
“I am excited about Alicia’s potential down the road with our program. She is probably going to redshirt this year but will play a prominent role in our attacking group in 2014,” Landy said. “She has an X-factor about her that is hard to quantify. Just watching her train, she has an incredible engine and a tremendous amount of personal drive. I know she will rise to the opportunity and I look forward to watching her continued development this fall.”
