Erin Redwine Steps Downs as NU Soccer Coach
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University Director of Athletics, Gary McIntosh has announced Erin Redwine will be stepping down as head coach of the Eagle women’s soccer team. Vallan Seid, men’s soccer assistant and goalkeeper coach will assume duties as interim head coach through the 2013 season and until a new coach is hired to replace Redwine.
“We are extremely sad to see Erin leave,” said McIntosh. “Erin has established a solid foundation in our women’s soccer program not only from all the successes but for the type of student athlete she has brought to the university. We are thankful for what she’s done for all the young women in her charge the past seven years. She will leave a lasting legacy in women’s soccer here at Northwest. Erin’s priorities are with her family and spending more time with them.”
In seven seasons, Redwine took the Eagles from their inaugural season in 2006 to the top spot in the Cascade Conference winning the 2012 CCC title and receiving votes for the final 2012 NAIA Top 25 poll for the first time in program history. The Eagles were the CCC’s runner-up in the 2011 post season tournament. Erin established a 46-50-19 (31-26-9 CCC) career record at the school. The two time CCC coach of the year had six players voted to the All-CCC team in 2012. Her best season was the 11-4-4 record the Eagles recorded in 2011 and a third place finish in the CCC.
“My heart is so heavy because NU women’s soccer has been my passion for the last 7 years,” stated Coach Redwine. I am trusting God through this time as I focus on caring for my 10 week old baby, two young girls and husband. I’m proud to have started the program back in 2006 and forever thankful to God for entrusting that vision to me and for Kristi Brodin, Gary McIntosh, President Castleberry and the entire NU community for supporting me and NU women’s soccer I trust that the team will continue to be strong and committed to carrying out our longstanding vision.”
