PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Eastern Oregon University Women’s Soccer improved to 3-0 on the season with a, 2-0, victory over Point Park (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon in Pittsburgh, Pa. This is the Mountaineers first 3-0 start in school history.

“We had a great first half and kept possession of the ball,” said head coach Jennifer Siminetti. “The goals we scored in the first half carried us through a very hot and tiring second half.”

EOU broke onto the scoreboard early against Point Park. Tori Fedora found Erika Whitehurst on a crossing and E. Whitehurst put the ball in the back of the net for her second goal of the season. The goal gave the Mountaineers a, 1-0, lead at the 1:23 mark of the game.

Later in the first half, Fedora took a shot and hit the crossbar. However, the Pioneers could not clear the ball and it bounced off a Point Park player and into the back of the net giving EOU a, 2-0, lead.

In the second half Kailey Moss stepped up her play to keep the shutout intact for EOU. Moss recorded six of her seven saves in the second half of the game. EOU claimed a, 2-0, win over Point Park. This was the second shutout of the season for the Mountaineers.

Eastern Oregon controlled the play in the first half and outshot the Pioneers, 6-1, in the first half. For the game shots were tired at nine. The Mountaineers took nine corner kicks on the afternoon.

EOU returns to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 14th when they travel to face NCAA Division II Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT.
