Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period August 26-September 1.
 

Septi Danciu
Men’s Soccer-Offensive
 
Concordia’s Septi Danciu, a senior, from Bristata, Romania, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Danciu, the returning CCC Player of the Year, recorded the game-winning goal and an assist against the University of the Fraser Valley. He also contributed an assist on the road in Nebraska against No. 13 Hastings College.

Brady Espinoza
Men’s Soccer-Defensive
 
Evergreen’s Brady Espinoza has been named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Espinoza, a senior from Pasco, Wash., anchored a back line that allowed just one goal in a 1-1 tie with No. 22 Rocky Mountain College Rocky’s all-time leading scorer Oliver Gore was held to just three shots the entire contest.

Jessalynn Smith
Volleyball- Defensive
 
 Eastern Oregon’s Jessalynn Smith, a junior from Boise, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Smith tallied 90 digs in five matches helping the No. 21 Mountaineers to a 4-1 record in Florida. Her season total of 221 is 3rd in the nation, while her average of 5.39 digs per game ranks 21st in the NAIA.

Casey Loper
Volleyball- Offensive
 
 Eastern Oregon’s Casey Loper a junior from Powell Butte, Ore. has been named the Red Lion Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Loper led the Mountaineers with 55 kills over a 17 game span including a win over No. 10 Embry-Riddle and a .354 hitting percentage.
 
Her 133 kills ranks 5th in the NAIA and her hitting percentage of .337 ranks 37th.

Kaitlyn Mendenhall
Women’s Soccer- Defensive
 
 Corban’s Kaitlyn Mendenhall, a junior from Windsor, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Mendenhall, a goalkeeper, helped lead Corban to a 4-0 win and a 0-0 tie, as the third-year Warrior registered nine saves in 155 minutes between the pipes without allowing a goal in three halves.
 
Honorable mention: Jasmin Ayala, Concordia


Jamiece Yizar
Women’s Soccer- Offensive
 
The College of Idaho’s Jamiece Yizar, a freshman from Pocatello, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
 Yizar scored the Yotes lone goal in 2-1 loss at Carroll College and scored the game winning goal in their upset win over Biola. Both teams are receiving votes in the latest top 25 poll.
