Betts Leads Owls Past Geoducks
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Evergreen State scored just five minutes into the game but Oregon Tech scored the final three goals to surprise Evergreen State 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park. Each team moved to 1-1 in Cascade Conference play with the result.
Willie Spurr put the Geoducks up 1-0 on the fifth minute as he took a free ball, dribbled past the keeper, and scored from 10 yards out.
Each team would have opportunities in the first half but neither could find the net as the half ended with Evergreen up 1-0.
ESC would be whistled for a hand ball in the box and Oregon Tech’s Ashton Betts would tie the game at 1 as he converted the Penalty Kick in 57th minute.
Oregon Tech would then score the eventual game winner as Colten Grytness scored on a header on a perfect corner kick from Betts in the 70th minute.
Oregon Tech would put the game away in the 86th minute when Luis Valdez took a cross from Carlos Rodriguez and scored past the diving keeper from 12 yards out.
Oregon Tech (2-4, 1-1 CCC) will next travel to Portland, Ore. to play at Concordia University on Friday, September 27 at 6:00pm and Warner Pacific on Saturday The Geoducks return to Olympia on Wednesday afternoon as they play host to Northwest Christian.
