Cavs Handle Oregon Tech To Extend Win Streak
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The 21st-ranked Concordia Cavaliers volleyball team won its tenth match in row and powered past Oregon Tech (3-0) 27-25, 25-18, 25-19 Saturday Night at Danny Miles Court in Cascade Conference play.
The Cavaliers (12-2 overall, 6-0 CCC), trailed in the first set 23-24 as Oregon Tech had game point but Concordia managed to stay alive with a kill by Melanie Miller followed by another kill by Brianna Hogan as they took the lead 25-24. Tech freshman Kelsey Sampson tied the game at 25-25 with one of her game high 13 kills, but the Cavaliers closed out the game winning the last 2 points highlighted by another kill by Miller.
In set 2, Oregon Tech took a 16-15 lead before the Cavaliers ran off 7 points in a row to take a 21-16 lead and win going away 25-18.
In the final set, Tech trailed 17-15 after a kill by Renee Baumann. That would be as close as the Owls would get as Concordia went on a 8-3 run to win 25-18.
Concordia was led on the offensive side by Amanda Goringe and Jackie Stein with 10 kills each. Lindsay Mangan had a Match high 42 assists. Defensively Shantel Gritsch had a game high 22 digs with other player adding 10 or more for Concordia.
Oregon Tech was led defensively by Sampson who had 19 digs with Baumann adding 15 and Marlee Smith’s 12.
Kayleigh Whelchel had 13 assists with Megan Holland adding 12.
Oregon Tech fell to 9-10 overall and 2-3 in CCC action and will next travel to Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho next Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28. Concordia will take on Western Oregon University on Wednesday, September 25th in M
