PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Septi Danciu (Bristita, Romania/Evergreen H.S.) recorded his second career hat trick to lead Concordia University to a 5-0 victory against Oregon Tech Friday night at Tuominen Yard.

Playing its first conference home match of the season, the Cavaliers improved to 5-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with the win. Oregon Tech fell to 2-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in league play.

As a team, Concordia outshot Oregon Tech 30-to-3, including a 16-to-0 advantage in the first half of play where the Cavs scored four of its five goals.

Danciu needed just eight minutes to record the first goal of the match as he found himself open from 16 yards and unloaded a powerful low shot that went in just past the reach of Oregon Tech goalkeeper Loren Jessen.

Just over six minutes later, Danciu put home his second goal of the match after his teammates Ryan Candella (Bend, Ore./Bend H.S.) and Quinn Sinser (Bellevue, Wash./Eastside Catholic H.S.) worked their way up inside the box with two short passes, allowing Danciu to put another low shot in on the left side.

In the 21st minute, Radcliffe McDougald (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island H.S.) initiated the Cavs' third goal as he fired a shot towards Jessen where Michael Chamberlain (Wailua, Hawaii/Island H.S.) was able to collect the ricochet and deliver a successful punch in from six yards.

Danciu finished his three-goal performance in the 23rd minute by converting a penalty kick after CU was awarded a penalty kick due to a handball inside the box by OIT. With his 10th career multi-goal game, Danciu, the returning CCC Player of the year, now has 44 career goals for the Cavaliers.

The Cavs closed out the game's scoring in the 86th minute with a Timur Zhividze (Bobrov, Russia/Evergreen H.S.) goal after assists by Eli Gaynor (Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River H.S.) and Kevin Fischer (Stuttgart, Germany/Akademie für Kommunikation).

Oregon Tech produced its best scoring chance in the 67th minute on a long-ranged shot by Nathan Wade which CU goalkeeper Scott Gross (Gladstone, Ore./Gladstone H.S.) volleyed over the crossbar. Gross finished the night with two saves to collect his fourth shutout of the season.

Jessen, meanwhile, stopped seven shots in the outing.

Concordia will return to the pitch tomorrow as it will host The College of Idaho at 6 p.m. Oregon Tech will also take the field in Portland on Saturday with a road match at Warner Pacific.
