SALEM, Ore. – In a torrential downpour for over two hours, Corban University played to a scoreless tie in double overtime with The Evergreen State College in Cascade Collegiate Conference action Saturday at Sparks Field on the campus of Willamette University.

With today's result, Corban moves to 6-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. On the other hand, Evergreen moves to 4-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in league games.

Today's results also allowed the Warriors to post the best start in school history through the opening seven games, as the old record was held by then-Western Baptist's 1990 squad that also began their season undefeated through six games before falling in their seventh contest.

At the opening whistle, the skies opened up and poured down upon the players and added gusts of winds throughout the game that both teams had an opportunity to take advantage of. Unfortunately, neither team could crack the other's defense resulting in the scoreless result.

Throughout the entire game, Corban controlled the tempo with the Warriors collecting 13 more shots (21-to-8) than Evergreen that included an 11-to-1 difference in the second half with Corban battling the wind throughout the 45 minutes of play. The host Warriors also tallied six more corner kicks (9-to-3) that included six unanswered in the first half.

The Warriors' best scoring chances came in the second half when Corban’s Arsinio Walker and Josh Hamilton headed a pair of shots on-target that were both saved by Evergreen's goalkeeper Mauricio Sanchez. Evergreen had a chance in the game’s final few minutes when a corner kick by Jacob Zimmerman eluded Corban’s defense only to be headed into the back of the net by an offside Geoduck that negated the goal.

For the game, Sanchez registered a game-high 10 saves versus Farr's two with both keepers picking up a shutout.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday, October 1st, when Corban puts its unbeaten streak on the line against The College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho and Evergreen hosts No. 11-ranked Concordia in Olympia. Each game is scheduled to kickoff at 4:00 p.m. in its respective time zone.
