College of Idaho Women, Oregon Tech Men Lead Border War after Round 1

MEDFORD, Ore. – Oregon Tech’s Dalton Durrell tied for top score with Corban’s Jared Lambert, while College of Idaho finished with four in the top six on the women’s side in the opening round of the Border War hosted by Oregon Tech played Sunday at Centennial Golf Club. The Owls lead by two strokes on the men’s side after the opener with a score of 305, while the C of I women, with the help of a 78 from Katherine Reed, hold a 28 stroke lead over Corban.

Men-
Oregon Tech combined to shoot a score of 17-over 305 to lead Corban (307) with 18 holes remaining. Rounding out the five team tournament are Menlo (319), The College of Idaho (321), and Simpson (332).

Tech’s Durrell and the Warriors’ Lambert recorded a 1-over par 73, followed by The College of Idaho's Kyle DeLorey, Menlo's Patrick McNamara, and Corban’s Zach Mode with the trio recording a 3-over par 75.

Women-
On the women’s side College of Idaho’s Katherine Reed shot a 78, holding a 1-stroke lead over Corban’s Brooke Spencer. C of I’s Baylee Borchers (81), along with Simpson University’s Serina Castillo and the C of I duo of Gabby Giesbrecht and Reagan Sanford, with scores of 12-over par 84, round out the top 6.

Oregon Tech’s Mallory Rose notched a score of 84, followed by an 88 from Alyssa Clements holding on to 7th and 9th place respectively.

With four of the top six scores coming from C of I, the Yotes lead in the team scoring with a 327, 28 strokes ahead of second place Corban. Corban posted a combined team score of 67-over par 355 and holds a 22-stroke lead over Simpson (349), with Oregon Tech (367) and Menlo (463) following.

The second and final round of the Border War will be played Monday, September 30th, with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. at Centennial Golf Club in Medford.
