Eagles Fly High Over Walla Walla
COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. - The Northwest University Eagles trip to Walla Walla proved to be a good one as they came away with a convincing 81-47 victory this afternoon. All 15 Eagles saw action in the game as NU took a 42-27 halftime lead and limited the Wolves to just 14 second half points as they posted their 10
th win of the season.
Chanara Greene led the Eagles (10-6) with 17 points and 9 rebounds while Chantelle Burke came through with a season high 12 points in 14 minutes of play for the Eagles. Domi Mendezona contributed 10 points and 3 assists for NU. Paige Burson dropped in 9 points as the Eagles shot an impressive 55% for the game. NU out rebounded the Wolves 47-40.
Lauren Pernu and Lauren McCoy shared scoring honors for Walla Walla with 10 points each. Michaela Garcia scored 7 points and led the team with 9 rebounds. The Wolves shot only 22% for the game as the Northwest defense held them to 16% in the second half on 5 for 32 shooting. NU’s defense also forced 27 WWU turnovers.
Said Ken Crawford, Eagle head coach, “This was a great team win for us today and we had solid contributions from everyone. We were able to get meaningful minutes for all the players this afternoon and they all delivered with quality time on the court.”
The Eagles return home to Kirkland tonight to prepare for their CCC home game tomorrow against Evergreen in the NU Pavilion at 5:30 p.m.
