PORTLAND, Ore.—After holding a four-point lead at the end of the first half, Eastern Oregon went on to post a 16-point road win as the Mountaineers defeated Concordia 80-64 inside the Cavalier Gymnasium on Friday.

With the win, Eastern Oregon improved to 13-4 overall and remained the lone undefeated team in conference play with a 5-0 record in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Concordia, meanwhile, fell to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in the CCC.

EOU's Brittney Newcomb led all players with 19 points while Kelly Huey (San Francisco, Calif./Lincoln H.S.) paced the Cavs with 13 points.

With 11 seconds left in the first half, Lexi Campbell (Brentwood, Calif./Heritage H.S.) hit a deep 3-pointer to cut Concordia's deficit to one point a single point, but EOU's Nicole Redd would turn around and hit one of her own, swishing from just inside of half court to give the Mountaineers a 34-30 advantage at the break.

As Concordia struggled from the field, including hitting just 13 percent from long range in the game, the Mountaineers extended their lead to as many as 21 points following a pair of free throws from Nikki Osborne with 7:34 remaining.

EOU shot 48.5 percent from the floor in the second half while finishing with an overall edge in rebounds (46 to 38) and turnovers (7 to 10) to go on to its fifth straight win to open the CCC season.

With eight first-half points from Caitlyn McCutcheon (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy), Concordia held the lead through much of the first half, including a 22-16 edge with7:30 to play. Eastern Oregon regained the lead (24-22) on a Payton Parrish jumper with 4:08 remaining and maintained its lead throughout the rest of the contest.

EOU's Brittney Newcomb led all scorers with 19 points with 15 coming from beyond the 3-point line as the senior hit 5 of 9 from distance. Kassy Larson added 16 points off the bench for the Mountaineers while Osborne finished with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Aided by a 6 of 6 performance from the free throw line, Kelly Huey (San Francisco, Calif./Lincoln H.S.) paced Concordia with 13 points, two more than teammate Briannah Smith (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral).

Concordia will return to action on Saturday when it hosts College of Idaho. EOU will remain in Portland and will face Warner Pacific College.
