Foster, Lira Lead Knights Past Oregon Tech

Crystal Foster scored two goals while
Rayssa Lira added three assists and a goal of her own to lead Warner Pacific to a 4-1 win over Oregon Tech tonight at Damazo Field.

The Short Story: Playing their first ever game at the new Damazo Field at Portland Adventist Academy, Warner Pacific earned a 4-1 victory over the visiting Owls of Oregon Tech. The result vaults the Knights into 4th place in the Cascade Conference standings, and the four goals are the most WP has scored in a CCC contest since 2007.
How it Happened
•
Cristal Ruvalcaba got WPC on the board early, taking a pass from Lira in the 4th minute and cutting inside to score from five yards away.
• Lira scored her first career goal in the 23rd mintute, placing a left footed shot to the far post and just out of the reach of Owl goalkeeper Rebekah Matteri.
• Warner Pacific continued to press the issue in the first half, outshooting OIT in the period 9-2.
• Foster came alive after halftime, scoring goals in the 50th and 62nd minutes - both on assists from Lira.
• Oregon Tech responded with a goal in the 75th minute. Bailey Tehan put her head to Alyssa Stewart's corner kick and found the net from close range.
• The tally energized the visitors, and the Owls pressed forward to register five more shots.
