Concordia Named Unanimous Pick For CCC Men’s and Women’s Golf Titles
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Both the men’s and women’s golf teams of Concordia University have been chosen as the favorites to win the Cascade Collegiate Conference title according to a vote of the leagues head coaches.
In the men’s voting, Concordia picked up all six of the first place votes to take the top spot with a total of 36 points. Corban took second with 30 votes. Oregon Tech had 22 points earning third and College of Idaho placed fourth with 18 points. Northwest Christian and Warner Pacific tied for fifth with a total of 10 points each.
On the women’s side, Concordia totaled 25 points to be the unanimous pick for first. In second place was The College of Idaho with 19 points followed by Oregon Tech with 13 points, Warner Pacific with 11 points and Corban with seven points.
Northwest Christian undeclared from the 2014-15 season and will not be fielding a women’s team this year.
The teams with the lowest combined stroke total from the four conference tournaments will be crowned regular season champions. After two fall tournaments, Concordia is leading the conference with a team stroke average of 289.9 on the men’s side and 320.7 for the women through six rounds of play.
The winners of the CCC championships tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA National tournament in May. The CCC championships will be hosted by Warner Pacific on April 19-21.
