#8 Mounties Roll Past Warner Pacific
PORTLAND, Ore. – Eastern Oregon lived up to their #8 ranking with a 3-0 sweep of Warner Pacific tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.
The Basics
• Score: Eastern Oregon 3, Warner Pacific 0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-18)
• Records: EOU (22-2, 12-1 CCC), WPC (5-14, 3-11 CCC)
• Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: The host Knights started slowly in the first set, and though their play improved as the match unfolded it was not enough versus the high-powered Mountaineers. EOU held the Knights to a negative hitting percentage (-.041) while posting a .323 mark for their attack. After the result, EOU stays in a tie for 1st place on top of the CCC standings.
How It Happened
• EOU ran out to a 9-1 lead in the first set and were never threatened.
• The Knights made 10 hitting errors in the frame compared to six kills, resulting in the 25-7 score.
• WPC came out much stronger in set two, and trailed just 11-9 after a Devan Belshe service ace.
• Responding to the challenge, EOU surged to a 22-13 advantage to take control of the set.
• The Knights ran out to a 8-1 lead in set three, hoping to prolong the match and make the Mounties work for every point.
• After a quick timeout, EOU righted the ship. The visitors fought back to tie the set at 14-14.
• Warner Pacific remained in striking distance at 17-20, but saw Eastern score five of the last six points to claim the conference victory.
Notable
• Marchelle Bostic touched up 15 assists, which put her at 2001 for her career at Warner Pacific.
• Casey Loper led all players with 14 kills for EOU.
• Nicole Lisoski led the Knights with five kills.
