CCC Student Athletes Named to Capital One Academic All-District Soccer Teams
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Representing the Cascade Collegiate Conference are six student athletes who were named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams which are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, (CoSIDA).
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CCC student athletes are selected from district four which includes 14 states and all of Canada.
On the men’s side, Concordia and Northwest Christian each had a player named to the All-District team. Representing the Cavaliers is junior goalkeeper Arne Niermann from Lippstadt, Germany, who earned 3.86 GPA as a business administration major. For the Beacons, senior midfielder Joshua Bramlett, a native of Bellingham, Wash., was named with a 3.94 GPA in accounting.
Corban had two players selected to the men’s team in senior defender Daniel Fredrickson from Boise, Idaho, who earned the honors with a 3.96 grade point average as an accounting major and Kellen Luey, a junior defender from Beaverton, Ore., who earned a 4.0 GPA as a business major.
For the women, Sydney Woods, a junior defender from Meridian, Idaho, represented College of Idaho with a 3.83 GPA as a pre-med major. Concordia’s Annika Hayman, a junior midfielder and Redmond Wash., native, was selected with a 3.93 GPA in Biology.
All six athletes advance to the Capital One Academic All-America team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in November.
