CALDWELL, Idaho – Emily Ottinger had six of her 17 kills in a key fourth set rally, as the College of Idaho earned a key 25-18, 21-25, 25-16, 25-21 victory over Concordia University inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The victory by the Lady Yotes (10-8, 7-2 CCC) moved the club into a tie for third-place in the Cascade Conference standings at the midway point of the season, a game behind front-running Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon.

The Cavaliers (10-6, 7-2) came out quickly in the opening set, as Shantel Gritsch had two of her team-high three aces in a 7-2 surge to open the match.  The Yotes countered with a 6-1 run, keyed by two Janessa Koelliker kills, to grab a 15-13 lead, with C of I scoring the final five points of the period to earn the opening win.

CU commanded the second set, as Ashley Jibby and Nicole Barth each had four kills and Brianna Hogan added five block assists in the period.  The Cavs built a 17-11 lead and held on to even the match.

An 11-1 run by the Yotes in Set 3 broke a 5-5 tie, as C of I grabbed the frame, then got the bulk of Ottinger's kills in an 11-3 run to open Set 4.  CU would rally, as a Lindsey Dorsey spike got the Cavs even at 19-19.  However, Kylie Porter took over from there, recording four kills in the final eight serves of the match to close out the victory for the Yotes.

Porter had 15 kills and three blocks in the win; with Bailee Kendall adding 10 kills, six digs, and three blocks; Koelliker recording eight kills and five blocks; and Sierra Porter filling up the stat line with seven kills, 51 assists, three blocks, and 15 digs.  Kilee Lopez led the Yotes with 26 digs, with Jayde Folsom recording a career-high 14 digs.

Dorsey led CU with 17 kills, with Hogan adding 10 kills and seven blocks.  Jenessa Taylor had 38 assists, 14 digs, and five blocks, with Gritsch leading the Cavs with 19 digs.

C of I returns to action next weekend with home matches against Evergreen and Northwest.
