Concordia's Tyler Ichiki ended the day tied for ninth place at the Cavaleir Classic.

PORTLAND, Ore.—The University of British Columbia, ranked No. 9 in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll last season, shot 8-under as a team through two rounds to claim a 20-stroke lead at the Cavalier Classic, hosted by Concordia University at Rose City Golf Course on Monday.
British Columbia (281-287—568) fired a tournament-low 7-under 281 in the opening round and returned with a sub-par round in the return trip to pull away from the University of Victoria (297-291—588), the tournament second-place team.
The host team from Concordia (298-295—593), a squad that finished last season ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, ended the night in third place, just five strokes back of Victoria.
Concordia holds a slim three-stoke margin over Corban University (302-294—596) as the match represents the second of four Cascade Collegiate Conference events held throughout the year.
Also representing the CCC were The College of Idaho (322-302—625) in seventh place, Oregon Tech (320-324—644) in ninth, Warner Pacific College (328-320—648) in 10th and Northwest Christian University (333-330—663) in 11th place.
UBC's Jack Wood (68-70—138) and Corban's Kade Crossland (69-70—139) finished the first 36 holes with just one stroke separating the pair. Victoria's Matt Broughton (71-70—141) and UBC's Evan Holmes (71-70—141) remain in contention for medalist honors as four individuals broke par on the first day.
Just one over par, the host Cavaliers were paced by newcomer
Dylan Cramer (Bend, Ore./Summit H.S.) (78-67—145), who carded a 5-under 67 in the second round for the single lowest single-round score of the day.
Ryan Melnychuk (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley H.S.) (70-77—147) tied for seventh place through two rounds, while
Kyler Beebehiser (Milwaukie, Ore./Rex Putnam H.S.) (78-70—148) and
Tyler Ichiki (Mililani, Hawaii/Hanalani) (76-72—148), competing on Concordia's 'C' team, cracked the top 10 by sharing ninth place along with NCU's Sam Mar (72-76—148).
Other leading individuals of their respective teams were Oregon Tech's Josh Whitley (75-76—151) in 17th place, College of Idaho's Alex Day (81-73—154) in 23rd and Warner Pacific's Royce Rosenthal (80-77—157) in 33rd.
The third and final round of action of the Cavalier Classic will continue on Tuesday morning at Rose City Golf Club.
