PORTLAND, Ore.—
With the University of British Columbia finishing six strokes below par as a team, Concordia managed to squeak into second place by a single stroke while hosting the Cavalier Classic at Rose City Golf Course on Tuesday.

British Columbia (281-287-290—858) acquired a double-digit lead after the first round of play and never looked back en route to the 27-stroke win. Concordia (298-295-292—885) cut its score for the second straight round with a 4-over 282 on Tuesday to edge the University of Victoria (297-291-298—886) by one swing.

Corban University (302-94-298—894) ended the first day within three strokes of Concordia, but settled for fourth place in the team standings.

Rounding out the field for the Cascade Collegiate Conference portion of the tournament were Oregon Tech (320-324-303—947) in eighth place, College of Idaho (322-302-324—949) in ninth, Warner Pacific College (328-320-326—974) in 10th and Northwest Christian University (333-330-324—987) in 11th.

Oregon Tech and Warner Pacific both moved up one spot on the final day with Oregon Tech firing a team-best 303 in the third and final round.

UBC's Jack Wood (68-70-70—208) and Evan Holmes (71-70-69—210) claimed the top two spots in the individual leaderboard with Wood defeating his teammate by two strokes.

Corban's Kade Crossland (69-70-75—214) won his second straight CCC event to open his career, taking Concordia's Dylan Cramer (Bend, Ore./Summit H.S.) (78-67-73—218) and Ryan Melnychuk (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley H.S.) (70-77-71—218) by four strokes for the best overall score amongst CCC golfers.

Northwest Christian's Sam Mar (72-76-74—222) squeaked into the top 10 with a ninth-place finish to lead the Beacons while Oregon Tech's ace Josh Whitley (75-76-73—224) used a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to finish in the 14th position.

Alex Day (81-73-78—232) tied for 26th for College of Idaho's top scorer and Glenn Linder (87-76-79—242) tied for 41st to lead Warner Pacific.

The CCC season will resume on March 9-10, 2014 at the Corban Invitational held at Creekside Country Club in Salem, Ore. The Corban event will represent the third of four regular-season tournament before the CCC Championships which will be held on April 210-21, 2015 at Portland's Pumpkin Ridge.
