KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Katelyn Benavidez scored twice including knocking home the game-winner off a rebound in the 70th minute, as the College of Idaho remained unbeaten in Cascade Conference play, defeating Oregon Tech, 2-1, at Trevor Darrah Field.
Oregon Tech (5-7-1, 0-4-1 CCC) struck first in the 12th minute when Cody White took a pass from Bailey Whitehurst and drove home a 40-yard shot just over the hands of the College of Idaho Keeper.
Benavidez got C of I even in the 19th minute, as she took a perfect chip pass from Sydney Woods over the Owls defense and scored from 15 yards out.
In the 70th minute, Jamiece Yizar took a loose ball and shot from 15 yards out, the shot hit off the right post – but the rebound found the foot of Benavidez, who slotted home the game winner.
C of I held a commanding 23-6 edge in total shots and a 7-0 lead in corners, as the Yotes ended a four-match losing streak to OIT.
Oregon Tech Rebecca Matteri had another stellar performance between the pipes picking up 9 saves in the loss.
Oregon Tech will look for its first CCC win on Saturday at 1:00 pm hosting Eastern Oregon at Trevor Derrah Field. College of Idaho will head over the hill to Face Southern Oregon in Ashland alsoon Saturday.
