LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon University men's basketball claimed their fourth win of the season as they defeated Portland Bible College, 104-53, in the Mountaineers first game of the Quinn Classic.
The Mountaineers were led by
Bryan McGriff with 32 points, four rebounds, and one block.
Case Rada contributed 18 points, five rebounds, and two steals.
Michael Crane had a double-double on the night with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Portland Bible was led by Mozeek Waggner with 15 points and six rebounds. Garrett Williams also contributed for Portland Bible with nine points and four rebounds.
Eastern Oregon came out ready to play, scoring the first basket of the game and shooting 59.5 percent from the floor in the first half. The Mountaineers slowly pulled away from Portland Bible and after a McGriff three pointer, EOU led by 11, 15-4.
Portland Bible made one run to trim the Mountaineers lead to three points, 15-12, but EOU responded and grew their lead back to double figures. EOU stayed in control for the entire first half taking a 24 point lead at half, making the score 58-34.
The Mountaineers kept pounding away in the second half and did not let Portland Bible back into the contest. Six minutes into the second half, EOU held a 31 point lead, 71-40, after a layup by Crane. Eastern Oregon did not let up, as they held Portland Bible to a shooting percentage of 28.1 percent from the floor, while Eastern Oregon shot 42.1 percent.
Quinn Classic play will pick back up tomorrow, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. when the College of Idaho takes on Portland Bible College and then again at 8 p.m. when the Mountaineers take on Walla Walla University.
