LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University volleyball team swept Oregon Tech 25-13, 25-15, 25-19. The Mountaineers recorded their ninth win of the season and have won 28 in a row at Quinn Coliseum.
Casey Loper led the night for EOU with 15 kills and 7 digs.
Amanda Miller also contributed with 11 kills, three blocks and one dig. The Owls were led by Kelsey Sampson with eight digs and nine kills, while Whitney Webster contributed eight kills and one dig.
Eastern Oregon was locked in a battle early in set one as they held a two point lead, 8-6. EOU came on strong and extended their lead to 10 points, 21-11. EOU continued to lead the entire set and claimed the win with a kill by Katina Furguson, ending the set 25-13.
Going into set two, EOU continued their forward momentum and raced out to a four point lead, 11-7. The Owls, again had no answer as EOU continued to grow their lead and after a Kasundra Tuma kill Eastern Oregon led, 24-14.
Jessalyn Smith aced a serve to take the second set, 25-15.
Oregon Tech held on in the third set, taking the lead twice and keeping the score neck-in-neck. With the score tied at 15-15, the Mountaineers slowly pulled away. With Eastern Oregon ahead by 21-19, the Mountaineers went on to score the last four points of the set to sweep the Owls, 25-19.
Eastern Oregon returns to the court tomorrow night against Southern Oregon for Senior Night and White Out in Quinn Coliseum. Oregon Tech travels to Caldwell, Idaho to face College of Idaho, tomorrow night.
