Lady Yotes Sweep Northwest in CCC Quarterfinals
CALDWELL, Idaho – Bailee Kendall had a match-high 11 kills helping the College of Idaho advance to the final site of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, rolling to a 25-23, 25-14, 25-16 quarterfinal victory over Northwest University inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Lady Yotes (17-11) will learn their opponent later tonight after the second quarterfinal between Concordia and Oregon Tech. The four remaining teams will converge on La Grande, Ore., this Friday and Saturday.
C of I got kills from Kendall and Janessa Koelliker as part of a five-point surge in Set 1 to take an 11-5 lead. Trailing 18-12, the Eagles (15-15) responded behind four Rae Ann Haistings kills, scoring 11 of the next 14 points to take a 23-21 lead. However, following a timeout, the Yotes scored the final four points of the period, including to kills from Kylie Porter to grab in opening set.
The Yotes led 17-14 in Set 2 before getting two kills each from Porter and Emily Ottinger in an 8-0 surge to take the two set lead. C of I used four team blocks in the clinching set.
Porter had 10 kills, Ottinger added seven kills, and Koelliker had six kills and a team-high five blocks for the Yotes. Cheyan Coburn and Kilee Lopez each had 12 digs, with Sierra Porter notching 39 assists, seven digs, and three blocks.
Amanda Waterman led NU with seven kills and 10 digs, with Dakota Adams logging seven kills, and Leia Roy recording 17 digs.
