Concordia, College of Idaho Advance to Championship
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The final matchup for the 2014 Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Championship presented by U.S. Bank has been decided and will feature third-seed Concordia against fourth-seed College of Idaho.
The Cavaliers advanced to the championship match after a five set victory over Southern Oregon, winning 24-26, 17-25, 26-24, 25-20, 15-9. Dropping the first two sets to the Raiders, Concordia battled back, winning the next three sets to stay alive in the tournament. Freshman outside hitter Lindsey Dorsey led the attack for the Cavaliers recording a team high 16 kills. Sophomore setter Jenessa Taylor added a match-high 49 assists to help her team to victory.
C of I defeated top-seeded Eastern Oregon in the second semifinal match of the tournament in five sets, 25-19, 14-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-3. After falling behind in sets, C of I rallied, winning the fourth and fifth set against the regular season champions to keep title hopes alive. Senior outside hitter Emily Ottinger led the Yotes with a team-high 19 kills.
Concordia and C of I will play for the CCC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m. PST, in La Grande, Ore.
