Evergreen Wins Big, Improves to 3-0
KIRKLAND - LaNiecia Weatherspoon and Brittany Gray had their second double-doubles of the season Saturday night in leading Evergreen to a 93-21 women's basketball victory over Walla Walla University at the Northwest/Evergreen Classic held at Northwest University's NU Pavilion.
With two big victories over the Wolves this season, the Geoducks improve to 3-0. Walla Walla has a 1-5 record.
Weatherspoon scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Gray contributed 10 points and 12 boards for the Geoducks. All seven of Evergreen's players scored at least eight points. Uriah Thomas tallied 17 points in 24 minutes off of the bench while Sadee Jones, who played the fewest minutes with 22, just missed her second double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Evergreen shot 59 percent (22-for-37) from the field in building a 50-7 lead at the half. The Geoducks scored 66 of their points in the paint and got 34 points off of 27 Walla Walla turnovers over the course of the game. Natasha Trinidad had five of Evergreen's 18 steals, and Randi Boseman dished out 12 of the team's 29 assists.
The Wolves, with just six players, got 13 points from Emily Fields. They shot just 15 percent (7-for-48) from the field.
