Hot Shooting Mountaineers Down Walla Walla

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team shot 52-percent from the floor and 41-percent from behind the arc in a 110-36 victory over Walla Walla University, Wednesday night at Quinn Coliseum.

EOU had 5 players who were double-figure scorers, led by Kassy Larson's 27 points, on 13-of-14 shooting the ball. Madeline Laan followed with 18 points. Jordan Klebaum, Nikki Osborne and Maloree Moss followed with 17, 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Eastern Oregon blew open the game early. In the first six minutes of the contest, the Mountaineers were leading 20-4, after a jumper by Moss. Four minutes later the Mountaineers had grown their lead to 24 points, after a pair of free throws by Kelsey Hill.

Walla Walla had no answer for the inside game of the Mountaineers, and EOU had extended their lead to 39 points, 58-19, to head into halftime.  EOU dominated the game in the paint and in transition in the first half. The Mountaineers scored 32 points in the paint and 27 fast break points, while shooting 49-percent for the half.

The hot shooing Mountaineers were even hotter in the second half as they shot 57-percent from the floor. Eastern Oregon stretched their lead to 51 points, 73-22, within the first four minutes in the second half, after a jumper by Larson.

EOU continued to add to their lead and expanded it to as many as 79 points in the second half. Eastern Oregon defeated Walla Walla, 110-36. The Mountaineers scored 34 points in the paint in the second half.

The Mountaineers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when they host Simpson University at 2 p.m.
