Knights Edge Lewis & Clark in Defensive Battle
PORTLAND, Ore. - Defense ruled the day as Warner Pacific edged Lewis & Clark 48-47 in a non-conference clash of Portland squads on Tuesday at C.C. Perry Gym.
The Basics

• The Short Story: Points were hard to come by for both teams, but the Knights did just enough to defeat Lewis & Clark tonight at home. Jordan Wilcox (14) and Lindsay Loe (10) were the lone players to hit double figures as WPC hit 34% of their field goal attempts. The visiting Pioneers got a game high 20 points from Ayisat Afolabi, but LC could manage just 32% accuracy from the floor.
How it Happened
• The teams traded baskets in the opening minutes, but the Knights went ice cold for much of the first half.
• The Pioneers built a 10-2 lead while WPC did not score for nine minutes. Lindsay Loe finally broke the drought with a free throw at the 9:22 mark.
• WPC then closed the first period by outscoring the Pios 17-7 to take a 20-19 lead into the break.
• Back to back three pointers by Lorena Torres and Jordan Wilcox gave the Knights a 26-19 lead in the first 60 seconds of the second half.
• The burst for WP ended up at 12-2 to start the period, leading to the largest lead of the game at 11 points (32-21).
• The lead would not last, as LC fought back to lead the game at 37-35.
• Wilcox righted the ship with a trio of free throws with 9:00 minutes left and WP would not trail again.
• Lewis & Clark closed to within one point on a jumper by Lauren Wood, and had possession in the final seconds to try for the win but came up empty.
Notable
• Ball handling was a problem for both teams - Warner Pacific committed 23 turnovers compared to 24 for Lewis & Clark.
• LC won the rebounding battle 40-30.
