Cavs fall to Huskies in exhibition opener
SEATTLE, Wash. – Kelsey Plum led the charge with 26 points as the University of Washington women's basketball team ran away from Concordia University 95-45 Wednesday night.
The game was the first of three exhibition matches against NCAA DI programs for the Cavaliers. Concordia will return to play the University of Portland on Nov. 11 before opening its regular season at New Hope Christian College on Nov. 15.
Talia Walton added 19 as the Huskies, picked to finish fourth in the Pac-12 Conference, forced the Cavaliers into a very cold shooting night. After making three straight shots to open the game with a 7-4 lead, Concordia finished just 12 for 67 (17.9 percent) from the field.
Washington led 47-24 at the break thanks to a 34-7 run following the early deficit. The Huskies continued to expand the lead in the second half.
Janae Klarich (Granger, Wash./Granger H.S.) led Concordia with 10 points, while
Jordyn Peacock (Beaverton, Ore./Southridge H.S.) pulled down nine rebounds. The Cavaliers struggled from the field but were better at the foul line, making 14 of 20 attempts (70.0 percent).
