LA GRANDE, Ore. – Totaling five of the eight first place votes, the Concordia University softball team has been selected as the favorite to win the Cascade Collegiate Conference title by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
 
The Cavaliers ended last season with a conference title and an automatic bid to the NAIA National tournament. Concordia finished the preseason voting with 46 points.
 
Oregon Tech, the 2014 regular season champions, received the other three first place votes and totaled 45 points to finish second in the preseason poll. The Owls also made an appearance in last year’s national tournament receiving an at large bid.
 
College of Idaho landed at third place after the voting, earning 34 points, followed by Corban at fourth (33), Southern Oregon at fifth (26), Eastern Oregon at sixth (17), Northwest Christian at seventh (16) and Northwest at eighth (7).
 
The NAIA coaches' preseason top 25 poll will be released on January 21st.
 
The regular season champion will host the postseason tournament, which is scheduled for May 1-3. The top four teams will advance to the conference tournament with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NAIA Championships.
