Eastern Oregon Posts 72-56 Win Over Oregon Tech
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech saw a four point halftime lead slip away as Eastern Oregon held the Owls to just 19 second half points to earn a 72-56 win in Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s basketball action tonight at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech falls to 12-4 overall and 1-3 in CCC action. EOU improved to 11-4 on the season and 3-1 in CCC play.
Tech trailed by 11, 25-14, at the 8:14 mark of the first period before a 17-0 run led to a 31-25 lead for the Owls. Ashleigh Vandenbrink scored 11 of her 13 points in the stretch with Carly McIsaac adding four and Megan Whetstone two points in the burst.
EOU closed their deficit to 34-33, but a Tess Armstrong triple at the buzzer gave the Owls a 37-33 at halftime.
Tech ran their advantage to eight, 44-36, on a Karly LeVeque score, but the Owls saw the lead evaporate quickly, as EOU went on a 22-4 run to lead 58-48 with 8:07 remaining.
The Owls cut the margin to seven points, 63-56, but the Mountaineers would hold the home team scoreless, while connecting on eight free throws over the final two minutes of play and earn the 72-56 win.
Megan Whetstone and Ashleigh Vandenbrink scored a team-high 13 points and combined to grab 11 rebounds. Karly LeVeque would add 10 points and five assists in the loss.
Eastern Oregon was led by Nikki Osborne with a game-high 21 points, followed by Maloree Moss with 16. Kassy Larson added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds with Kelsey Hill notching 11 points in the win. Madeline Laan was a basket shy of a double-double with 13 rebounds and eight points.
EOU finished 36.1% shooting (22-of-61), including a 6-for-25 effort from long range. The Mountaineers finished 22-of-31 at the charity stripe and held a commanding 59-28 advantage on the boards.
Tech hit on just 35.9% of their tries (23-for-64), including a 5-for-24 showing at the 3-point line. The Owls went to the line just 10 times hitting five. The Owls forced EOU into 20 miscues while giving away 11 of their own.

nd and 3
rd when they travel to Corban University and Northwest Christian.
