Oregon Tech Evens CCC Mark with 82-74 Win Over Eastern Oregon

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech evened their Cascade Collegiate Conference record to 2-2 after taking down Eastern Oregon University in men’s basketball action tonight at Danny Miles Court by an 82-74 final.

Oregon Tech jumped on Eastern Oregon early and when Duncan Schramm connected from long range at the 15:39 mark the Owls led 13-3.  The Owls would increase their lead to as many as 19 points, 29-10, on a pair of Josh Johnson free throws with 7:51 left in the opening period.

Eastern Oregon battled back to cut their deficit to single digits when Bryan McGriff capped a 10-0 run  on a pair of free throws.  The teams traded points over the remaining five minutes, as the Owls held a 36-26 lead at the half.

Oregon Tech and EOU traded points over the first 12 minutes of the second stanza before the Mountaineers cut it to five on two occasions, the last on a Michael Crane jumper with 6:25 remaining.

Lavar Moore answered with a triple and back-to-back free throws to give the Owls back momentum and a 10 point advantage, 68-58, with under five minutes to play.

EOU made it a seven point game on De’Sean Mattox’s jumper, but free throws over the final 30 seconds of play sealed the win for Tech, 82-74.

Lavar Moore led the Owls with 20 points with Austen Flint adding 16 in the win.  Kyle Waits finished with 12 points and tied for game-high honors in rebounds with eight.

Bryan McGriff notched a game-high 25 points to lead the Mountaineer offense and went on to grab eight rebounds.  De’Sean Mattox added 15 points, followed by Deonta Edwards with 13 and Michael Crane 10.
