LA GRANDE, Ore. – Alora Brown and Danika Pink have signed Letters of Intent to play Soccer at Eastern Oregon University in the fall of 2014, head coach Jennifer Simonetti announced. Brown and Pink are the third and fourth members added to the 2014 recruiting class.
Brown, a native of La Grande, Ore., was the Defender of the Year for the 2012 and 2013 seasons for La Grande High School. She was a four year varsity letter winner and a Co-Captain her senior year. Brown led the team with a passing percentage of 81.6 percent.
During high school, Brown was named Second Team All-Conference her freshman year and was a three time First Team All-Conference selection. During her senior year in 2013, Brown was also named First Team All-State.
"Alora is extremely fast and athletic and will raise our standard of play daily in training,” said coach Simonetti. “She brings a lot of passion and a tremendous work ethic into our program. With her 1vs1 defending abilities and high level of fitness, she will make an excellent and competitive defender in our program."
From Pasco, Wash., Pink was a three year varsity captain for her Chiawana High School team. During her senior year, she was named All-Conference Honorable Mention, and she led her high school to a 4A district championship.
During her time at CHS, Pink helped the team to the 4A State championship match in 2010. In 2011 and 2012, Pink was named to the Washington State ’95 EPD team.
"Danika brings an abundance of versatility to EOU,” said coach Simonetti. “ She has great movement and vision on the field, defends well and attacks with skill out of the back. She could play at any position along the back line and impact the game."
Not only did Brown and Pink succeed on the field, but also in the classroom. Brown compiled a grade point average of 3.7 for her entire high school career and was a member of the National Honor Society. Pink was an Honor Roll student from 2010-13 and a scholar athlete in 2012 and 2013.
Brown and Pink join Amber Nielsen and Alexis Smith in the 2014 recruiting class for Eastern Oregon University.
