PORTLAND, Ore.—Behind four RBI by shortstop Christian Lichtenthaler (Albany, Ore./West Albany H.S.), Concordia defeated the College of Idaho 7-3 in the first day of the Cavalier Classic on Friday.

After a single run in the first, Concordia (2-1) opened up a 4-0 lead in the second inning with four hits in the frame.

Cole Buruse (Ridgefield, Wash./Skyview H.S.) led off the second with a double to right field and would come around to score on a single to center field by catcher Ben Talbot (Lacey, Wash./Timberline H.S.). The Cavs would score the second run of the inning as Adam Taylor (San Diego, Calif./The Rock Academy), who pinch ran for Ben Talbot (Lacey, Wash./Timberline H.S.), came around on a Trent Calmer (Beaverton, Ore./Southridge H.S.) single to right. Lichtenthaler finished the assault with a double to deep center field.

Closing the game to within a run, College of Idaho (4-2) score three runs in consecutive innings to chase Snodgrass in the sixth. After getting on the board with single run in the fifth, Mitch Skaggs tripled to center field to score Jordan Grubs and would score a run of his own on the next play as Cole Mansanarez hit a sacrifice fly to center field.

From there, Concordia's Austin Hadley (Vancouver, Wash./Evergreen H.S.) and Blake Evetts (Tigard, Ore./Jesuit H.S.) pitched three no-hit inning innings to close out the win. Hadley struck out the side in the seventh and allowed just one baserunner, a walk in the eighth to setup Evetts in the closing role. Facing the minimum, Evetts struck out his first batter before retiring the Yotes in order with a popup to second and an innocent grounder to shortstop.

College of Idaho's starter Taylor Nicholson yielded six runs, four of which were earned, on nine hits. Nicholson struck out two while walking one.

Lichtenthaler drove in runs in three of his first four at bats before being intentional walked in the eighth.

Skaggs led C of I at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Concordia will return to the field tomorrow in the second day of the Cavalier Classic with an 11 a.m. game against George Fox University before closing out the evening with a rematch against the College of Idaho at 5 p.m.
