Greene a CoSIDA Academic All-American for Third Time

TOWSON, Md. – Northwest University’s Michael Greene has been named to the Capital One College Division Academic All-American® for the third consecutive year as announced by the CoSIDA national office. The basketball teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
 
A graduate student from Bellingham, Wash., Greene carries a 3.90 G.P.A. and is seeking his master’s in business administration. Greene leads Northwest in scoring with a 16.9 point-per-game average and ranks sixth in NAIA Division II in field-goal percentage (62.6%). An honorable mention on the 2012-13 NAIA All-American team and first team, All-Cascade Conference selection, Greene has helped Northwest to an 18-9 record this season. For his career, he has 1,555 points and 776 rebounds.
 
Joining Greene on the Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Men’s Basketball first team are Brad Karp of Saint Xavier University, Trevor Johnson of Nebraska Wesleyan University, Nick Reed of Doane (Neb.) College, and Danny Rudeen of Morningside (Iowa) College.
 
Like Greene, Karp and Reed have been named to the Academic All-America® for the third time in a row. Greene is a repeat first-team selection from last season and was named to the second team in 2011-12. Reed landed on last year’s second team after appearing on the third team in 2011-12. Johnson made the third team in 2012-13 while Rudeen was named to the third team in 2011-12.
 
The combined G.P.A. of the men’s first team is 3.77.
 
One of the members of the second team is Derek Dickerson of San Diego Christian College and Bellingham, Wash. Dickerson a former high school teammate of Greene. The pair played at Squalicum High School in Bellingham for Coach Dave Dickson and won back-to-back Washington State 2A championships in 2009 and 2010.
