LA GRANDE, Ore. – East Valley High School senior Maci Beierle and Kamiakin High School senior Amanda Miller have signed a Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Eastern Oregon University in 2014, head coach Kaki Morehead announced.
"I am so happy with this freshman class, I really think they are the right people to help carry on the tradition we have established at EOU," said head coach Kaki Morehead. "Amanda and Maci both come from good programs where they have had success both with their teams and individually. They are both the type of players that will come in and make an impact right away with our team and program."
The 5-9 setter from Moxee, Wash., comes to EOU after spending four years on varsity at East Valley HS. During her freshman season, Beierle was named second team All-CWAC. In her sophomore and senior season's Beierle was CWAC Co-Player of the year. She was also named first team All-CWAC during her junior season.
"Maci, is a true competitor which really appealed to us, she is truly the type of player that will make others around her better," said Morehead. "We are so excited that she chose EOU and think she will be a great fit for us and our university."
Besides succeeding on the court, Beierle was the 2011 Health outstanding student and in 2012 won the Junior Masonic Award and Citizenship Award. She was also a National Honor Society member.
The 5-11 outside hitter from Kennewick, Wash., joins EOU after spending three years on varsity at Kamiakin HS. During her junior and senior season Miller was named First Team All-Conference. During her junior year, Miller was voted team most valuable player.
"When Amanda came on her recruiting visit we knew she was the type of player we wanted in our program," said Morehead. "She is very physical as well as being extremely talented and we can't wait to start working with her."
Miller was named as a scholar athlete every year during high school. KNDU (Tri-Cities) News Station also named her Academic All-Star.
Beierle and Miller join Emily Nay and Isabelle Statkus to the 2014 recruiting class.
