CU’s Darien Moore Named NAIA National Field Athlete of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Darien Moore (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) of Concordia (Ore.) has been selected as the NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday.
Moore, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., finished in the top-two spots in the weight throw and shot put at the NCAA Division I Boise State Team Challenge on Feb. 15. Moore bettered his No. 1 NAIA mark in the weight throw with a toss of 65-10 1/2 (20.08 meters) to take first place. That mark is more than a foot farther than his previous NAIA-leading effort. Then, Moore launched the shot a distance of 60-2 (18.34 meters) to take second overall and now leads the NAIA by three feet.
Moore is the second Concordia track & field athlete to earn a national weekly honor this season as distance ace
Matthew Clowes (Stoke-on-Trent, England/Westwood College) was tabbed as the Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 22.
