PULLMAN, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon University men’s and women’s track and field team continued to break school records in their final indoor meet of the season at the WSU Indoor Open II.

In the 60 meter dash preliminaries the women’s sprinters saw the school record be broken. In heat one, Ronieka Robinson and Kadie Booth both ran under the school record. Robinson edged out Booth by .03 tenths of a second to earn the school record. Both Robinson and Booth both qualified for the finals.

Also joining Robinson and Booth in the finals was Kendall Current who ran a time of 8.07. The Mountaineers finished fifth, sixth and eighth in the finals. In the finals, Booth edged Robinson by .01 tenths of a second.

Also breaking a school record today was Harley McBride. McBride broke her high jump record that she previously set this season. At the WSU Open, McBride jumped 1.68 meters (5’6), which placed her second in the event.

Talitha Fagen fell just short of her school record in the pole vault this week. Fagen, who is second in the NAIA in pole vault, was an inch short of her school record that she set last weekend. This weekend Fagen vaulted 3.67 meters (12’ 0 ½”).

Travis Simpson hit the NAIA “A” standard in the high jump. Simpson placed second in the event, only finishing behind Thane Pierson of Washington State, as he jumped 2.04 meters (6’ 8 ¼”). Simpson also competed in the triple jump and he jumped 13.88 meters (45’ 6 ½”) to finish second in the event.

Ryan Rosenau placed third in the long jump as he jumped 6.61 meters (21’ 8 ¼”). The jump for Rosenau was a personal best.

The Mountaineers return to action on NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on March 6-8 at the Spire Institution in Geneva, Ohio.
