MONMOUTH, Ore.—In a road game at NCAA DII Western Oregon, the Concordia baseball team extended its winning streak with a 6-3 win over the Wolves on Tuesday afternoon.

After scoreless ball the first two innings, Concordia (7-2) scored twice in the third with Ben Talbot (Lacey, Wash./Timberline H.S.), Trent Calmer (Beaverton, Ore./Southridge H.S.) and Christian Lichtenthaler (Albany, Ore./West Albany H.S.) all collecting singles.

Western Oregon (6-7) got one run back in the home half of the inning and after a single run by CU in the seventh, scored two more in the seventh to tie that game at 3-3.

Heading into the ninth, CU placed runners at the corner for Ian Erickson (Astoria, Ore./Astoria H.S.), who belted a double to left field to score Calmer and Blake Drake (Ramona, Calif./Ramona H.S.). Blake Evetts (Tigard, Ore./Jesuit H.S.), the team's clean-up hitter and pitcher on Tuesday, finished the barrage with a single to right which sent Erickson home for the final run of the game.

Ryan McMonigle (Kaneohe, Hawaii/Kailua H.S. ), who gave up two runs in the seventh to allow WOU to tie the game, picked up the win after retiring the side in order in the ninth. Brad Bearden (Hoodsport, Wash./Shelton H.S.) started the game for the Cavs, allowing just two hits in 2.2 innings.

Evetts worked the middle portion of the game and got two strikeouts in 3.1 innings on the mound.

Concordia will return to action this weekend by hosting the Porter Park Classic from Feb. 28 to March 2. Along with the Cavaliers, Lewis-Clark State, University of British Columbia and Montana State Billings will take part in the eight-game event.

The Cavs will put its four-game winning streak on the line on Feb. 28 with a 2 p.m. tilt against MSU-Billings.
