PORTLAND, Ore.—After an even first half, No. 7-seeded Oregon Tech used hot 3-point shooting in the second period to defeat No. 2-seeded Concordia 76-61 in the quarterfinals of the CCC Tournament on Wednesday.

With the win, Oregon Tech (17-14) will advance to play top-seeded College of Idaho in the CCC semifinals. Concordia (22-9), ranked No. 22 in the NAIA DII, will have to wait until March 5 to hear its fate as the NAIA will announce the qualifiers for the national tournament held in Point Lookout, Mo., from March 12-18.

Up one (37-36) with 12:32, Oregon Tech hit four 3-pointers, including three by Brandon Bautista, over a three-minute span to open up a 49-40 lead against the home team. Minutes later, a trey by Tanner Manselle with 5:39 remaining extended the Owls' lead to 15 points.

With one of his game-high six steals and a couple of field goals to boot, Tyler Velasquez (Colorado Springs, Colo./Doherty H.S.) helped Concordia creep back to within single digits at 60-51. The comeback attempt was quickly quelled, however, as OIT remained efficient on the offensive end over the final minutes of the game, eventually creating am 18-point spread with just over a minute to play.

Bautista and Austen Flint combined to score 39 of OIT's 76 points with both players knocking down four 3-pointers. As a team, OIT hit 14 of 32 from beyond the arc for a 43.8 percent rate. Concordia, meanwhile, failed to convert a 3-pointer, going 0 for 15 from distance.

The Cavs dominated on the boards, finishing with a 45-31 edge in rebounds.

The Cavs had several leads in the first half but never more than two points. An Anthony Holton (Portland, Ore./Sunset H.S.) jumper gave CU a 26-25 lead with a minute to play in the first half before a Mihajlo Matic 3-pointer provided the road team with the 28-26 edge at the break.
