KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Head Coach Dan Miles, earning his 1.000th career victory at Corban last week, got to celebrate his 1,000th win in a postgame ceremony in front of his hometown fans after his Hustlin' Owls defeated Evergreen State by an 80-61 score tonight at Danny Miles Court.

Oregon Tech improves their overall mark to 14-12 and now even in CCC play at 7-7.  Evergreen, meanwhile, falls to 3-17 overall and 2-11 in the conference standings.

Oregon Tech opened the game with four-straight 3-point field goals and ran away from Evergreen State.  Josh Johnson and Brandon Bautista opened the scoring, as the Owls took a 6-0 lead and never trailed in the contest.  Johnson and Austen Flint next connected from long range to make it 12-5 and after a Bautista jumper with 11:39 remaining in the opening period Tech took their first double digit lead, 19-9.

Evergreen State would close to within three points on two occasions, the last at 26-23 with 5:22 on the clock, before the Owls went into the locker room leading 37-30.

The Owls used a 12-2 run to race out of the second half taking a 17 point advantage, 49-32 with 15:21 remaining, and at the halfway point of the last period held an 18 point advantage, 60-42.  Tech continued to add to their lead going up by as many as 25 points, 72-47, with 5:52 to play.

Evergreen made it interesting, however, as an 11-0 run cut the Geoduck deficit to 14 points, 72-58, in the span of less than two minutes. Tech’s Bautista stopped the dry spell on a driving layup and the Owls would hold on for the 80-61 win.

Kyle Waits scored a game-high 23 points and added eight rebounds in the win.  Brandon Bautista chipped in 16 points with Josh Johnson recording a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds for Tech.  Duncan Schramm added 13 points in his reserve role with Austen Flint coming away with 11.

Kyle Calhoun led the Geoducks with 15 points with Marc Taylor following with 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.
