Adidas Team of the Week Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The College of Idaho softball team has been named the “Adidas Team of the Week” for March 10-16, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The preseason favorite to win the CCC title earned four wins on the road to remain atop the league standings. The Yotes swept Concordia University 3-2, 7-4 behind the strong pitching of Nikayla Skinner and Cortni Pena who both pitched complete games against the Cavaliers. Pena also added a solo homerun in game two of the double-header to help her own effort.
On Saturday the Yotes held Northwest University scoreless as they cruised to 9-0 and 6-0 wins to cap off the perfect weekend. In game one Destiny Turner had four RBI’s to lead the visitors while in game two Ashley Van Horne went 3 for 4 from the plate, scoring 3 times and knocking in 3 runs.
COI (12-4, 4-0 CCC) will travel to Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon as they return to action March 21-22.
