Concordia put together rounds of 306 and 296 for a 36-hole total of 602 and built a solid lead in the men’s division after Monday’s first day of the Corban Invitational golf tournament being held at Creekside Golf Club.

Simpson (Calif.) is in second with a 618 on rounds of 308 and 310, and Northwest Christian is three shots back of Simpson with a 621 on scores of 316 and 305. Rounding out the men’s team scores are Warner Pacific 626 (317-309), Corban 637 (320-317), College of Idaho 680 (341-339) and Oregon Tech (338-344).

Tyler Falk fired a two-under-par 70 during the opening round, six strokes better than any of his competition, and after a 73 in the second round he maintains a six-stroke lead with a one-under 143. Ryan Melnychuk from Concordia carded an even-par 72 for the best score on the second round after a 77 in the opening round and holds down second place with a 149. Rounding out the top five are Jesse Heinly from Concordia and Nick Maddalena from Simpson, both at 151, and Jess Wingett from Concordia at 152.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
