Former Seattle Seahawk Steve Largent sat down for a Q & A session at last night's benefit
Eagle Hall of Fame Event a Big Success
BELLEVUE, Wash. - A capacity crowd filled the Bellevue Hyatt Regency's Grand Ballroom last night for the 4th annual Northwest University Eagle Hall of Fame Benefit on Friday evening with former Seattle Seahawk and member of the NFL Hall of Fame, Steve Largent, the featured guest for the night.
Sarah Stoker (Volleyball) and Joe Galbraith (Men's Soccer) were introduced as the 2014 NU Athletes of the Year; Rachel (Elenbaas) Olson, '81, and the 1993 Eagle men's basketball team were inducted into the Eagle Hall of Fame.
The dinner guests took part in the silent and live auctions and, once again, showed NU is fortunate to have such loyal and generous fans of NU and Athletics.
Featured guest, Steve Largent, shared thoughts and memories with the audience and also sat down with MC Dustin Shirley for a Q & A sesssion. Largent was a three-time all-pro wide receiver for the Seahawks and upon his retirement in 1989, held six major career pass receiving records. Steve also holds the distinction of being the first receiver in NFL history to achieve 100 touchdown receptions in his career. He went on to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives for Oklahoma, from 1994 until 2002. Largent was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995 and, in 1999, he was ranked 46th on
The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players, the only Seattle Seahawk on the list.
The audience was also treated to a short video featuring Northwest U alum Stephen Ishmael which told about his experiences at Northwest U and how it helped shape his life after graduation and the founding of his Two Feet Project in Kenya. Stephen was a member of the 2007 Eagle men's basketball team that made their way to the final four at the NAIA national championships in Pt. Lookout, Missouri. During his time playing for the Eagles, Ishmael was named CCC freshman of the year and was an All-CCC player for NU.
