The following CCC and NAIA West student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period March 17 – March 23.
 
Softball Pitcher
 
Concordia’s Lucy Baldovino has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
 
Baldovino, a junior from Medford, Ore., hurled a one-hitter against NCU on Friday and came back to toss a 6-inning no hitter against Corban on Saturday. One walk away from a perfect game on the road against the Warriors, Baldovino struck out 15 of the 18 batters she faced. Opponents had a .030 batting average against Baldovino over the weekend, helping the junior lower her season ERA to 1.58 and her overall record to 4-1 on the season.

Softball Player
 
Concordia’s Taylor Copher has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
 
Copher, a sophomore from Sandy, Ore., hit .500 over the weekend with all six of the sophomore’s hits of the extra-base variety as the shortstop hit 4 doubles and belted 2 home runs. The strong weekend boosted Copher’s batting average to .378 while her 7 RBI led the team in the 4-0 week for the Cavs while playing on the road.

Baseball Pitcher
 
Menlo’s Kyer Vega has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
 
Vega, a senior from Los Gatos, Calif., put together a remarkable week on the mound for the Oaks collecting two wins and two saves to help the Oaks to a 4-3 record for the week. In the DH sweep of Vanguard, Vega picked up the win for a scoreless inning of relief in game one, then earned a save in game two to become the All-Time Saves Leader at Menlo College. He followed that performance up with a 1.1 inning save in the win over Hawaii Hilo on Wednesday. Then, Vega got the start in game two of Saturday's doubleheader and threw eight strong innings to lead the Oaks to a 14-4 (8 inn.) win over LC State.

Baseball Player
 
Menlo’s Daniel Comstock has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Comstock, a sophomore from Petaluma, Calif., hit for the cycle in his first four at bats of game one of Tuesday's DH against Vanguard. That ignited an impressive week in which the sophomore hit .500 (13-for-26) with six doubles, a triple, two home runs, nine RBIs, five runs scored and six walks. Comstock boasted a 1.038 slugging percentage over the seven game homestand.

Women’s Field
 
Concordia’s Emma Buchholz has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Buchholz, a junior from Sheridan, Ore., grabbed the NAIA lead in the women’s javelin throw with a 154-8 (47.15m) effort at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open last weekend. Buchholz’ mark is a full 11 feet farther than the next competitor on the NAIA performance list.

Women’s Track
 
Southern Oregon’s Amelia Maguin has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Maguin, a junior from Fernley, Nev., cruised to a win in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.56, under the NAIA 'A' qualifying standard. Her time was the fastest in the NAIA this season by nearly three seconds.

Men’s Field
 
Concordia’s Darien Moore has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Moore, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., crushed the school record in the hammer throw which was previously held by two-time NAIA national champion Greg Schultz. Moore uncorked a 213-2 (64.97m) in the hammer to add nearly three feet to Schultz’ best mark of 210-9. In addition to the NAIA’s top mark in the hammer, Moore also opened his 2014 outdoor campaign with the nation’s top mark in the shot put with a 60-6 (18.44m) and holds a 6-foot advantage over the NAIA’s No. 2 mark of 54-1 1/4 held by teammate Nate Moses. Moore has already reached the NAIA ‘A’ standard in three events as he posted the NAIA’s No. 2 mark in the discus (behind Moses) with a 171-2 (52.17m) this weekend as well.

Men’s Track
 
Southern Oregon’s Eric Avila has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Avila, a junior from Chula Vista, Calif., hit the NAIA 'A' qualifying mark in the 800m run with the fastest time in the NAIA this season by 2.33 seconds, winning the event at the Hornet Invitational with a time of 1:50.89. It was the third-best time in school history and a personal best.

Women’s Golf
 
Concordia’s Sunny Powers has been named the Red Lion Women’s Golfer of the Week.
 
Powers, a senior from Medford, Ore., won medalist honors by a commanding 17 strokes and led No. 16-ranked Conrodia to a 36-stroke win over NCAA DII's Northwest Nazarene. For the year, Powers holds a 77.9 strokes per round average in 16 rounds of action. In six events in 2013-14, Powers has captured three individual titles and has never placed outside of the top 5.

Men’s Golf
 
Northwest Christian’s Tyler Falk has been named the Red Lion Men’s Golfer of the Week.
 
Falk, a senior from Springfield, Ore., cruised to his second medal of the season, winning the Corban Invitational by ten strokes. Trailing CU's Jesse Heinly by ten shots in the CCC Player of the Year chase heading into the weekend, the two-time All-CCC golfer jumped into a tie with just six rounds to play. Falk currently ranks 7th in the NAIA in stroke average (71.73) and fourth in par-five scoring (4.63), according to the latest Golfstat player rankings.
