SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle University scored early and held Northwest University scoreless for a 7-0 shutout this evening at Logan Field. It was an exhibition contest for Northwest U.

The NCAA Division I  Redhawks put 7 runs across the plate in the first two innings scoring two in the first and 5 in the second inning. The big hit in the first came off Bubba Morrow’s 2-run home run to left field. SU got five more runs in the bottom of the 2nd on 6 hits and left 3 runners on base. Jenny Hurst hit a two run round tripper to highlight the inning.

NU put Ricki Tacdol and Lizzy Reimer on first and third in the top of the 3rd inning after Tacdol singled and Reimer got a base on balls, but the Eagles couldn’t manage to advance the runners.

Lindsay Davis pitched the entire game for the Redhawks, giving up just five hits while walking one and striking out eight. Kierston Perry gave up all seven runs for the Eagles on eight hits while walking three and striking out one in the two inning outing. Kelli Peckham entered in relief for the final four innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three.

Ricki Tacdol went 2 for 3 for the Eagles while Mallory Tacdol and Sarah Payne each had a hit with three at bats and Alyssa Gonzalez went 1 for 1 pinch hitting in the 6th inning.

“I am pleased with how we played  tonight,” said John Bacon, NU head coach. “We’re seeing the ball well and putting runners on base consistently. I was especially pleased with Kelli Peckham pitching four shutout innings against a solid D-1 program. All signs of great things to come!”

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow when they host Concordia in a conference doubleheader at Hartman Park in Redmond with the first game getting started at 12:00 p.m.
