SALEM, Ore.—Freshman sprinter Carlos Ortiz (Salem, Ore./North Salem H.S.) posed a school record 10.66 in the 100-meter dash to highlight Concordia action at the Willamette Invitational, held at the Charles Bowles Track on Saturday.

Not only did he hit the NAIA 'B' standard, Ortiz shattered the former school record of 10.88 which was set by Michael Lay during the program's inaugural season in 2006. The time fell just .01 off the 'A' standard of 10.65 and is currently the No. 6-rated time in the NAIA.

Fellow sprinters Andre Washington (Vancouver, Wash./Hudson's Bay H.S.) and DeAndre Jackson hit career bests on the 200 with Washington taking second place with a 22.02 and Jackson 13th with a 22.73. Washington's time was a .18 improvement over his former best, inching closer to Lay's school record of 21.96. Ortiz placed eighth with a 22.53 to shave .06 off his previous season best.

Making his outdoor debut, Matthew Clowes (Stoke-on-Trent, England/Westwood College) posted the NAIA's top make in the 1,500-meter run with a 3:50.15, easily placing first in the 'A' section of the event. Clowes' time narrowly missed out on Cory Pena's school record of 3:49.84 which was set at the Stanford Invite during the 2011 season.

Coming off a national athlete of the week honor, Darien More upped his own school record in the hammer throw by adding four inches to his NAIA-leading mark with a 213-6 (65.07m) toss to become the first CU thrower to top the 65-meter mark. Nate Moses (Fresno, Calif./Bullard H.S.), the No. 3-ranked hammer thrower in the nation behind teammates Moore and Adam Riddle (Fox Island, Wash./Gig Harbor H.S.), increased his season best in the hammer with a 183-5 (55.92m).

In the discus, Joe Hall () jumped to No. 6 in the NAIA with a 163-5 (49.82m) toss, almost a five-foot improvement over his former career best.

Reeher, Pfaff hit NAIA qualifiers at Mt. Hood Multis

GRESHMAN, Ore.—Competing in their first outdoor multi-event competition of the spring, Concordia's Jordan Reeher and Holly Pfaff each took first place en route to earning NAIA qualifying standards in their respective competitions at the Mt. Hood Multis this week.

Reeher scored 6,052 points over two days in the decathlon while Pfaff tallied 4,118 points in the heptathlon. Both scores represent not only the No. 3 marks in the NAIA so far this season but also the No. 3 marks in school history.

Reeher won three of five events on the first day including 852 points in the 400-meter dash with a career best time of 49.19.

Reeher topped more than 700 points in two other events, the 100-meter dash (789) and the 1,500-meter run (743). Western Oregon's Eric Gaines finished in second place overall with 5,717 points, more than 300 behind Reeher.

Pfaff's 4,118 points was more than 100 better than the next competitor as Saint Martin's Irene Moore placed second with a 3,985-point tally.

Pfaff won the high jump (4-9 3/4) and the shot put (35-0 1/4), but also added second-place finishes in the long jump (16-0 1/2) and the 800 (2:24.71). Pfaff's 800 time garnered a meet-best 761 points.
