LA GRANDE, Ore. – Madeline Cillay and Charli Torres have signed Letters of Intent to play soccer at EOU for the 2014 season, head coach Jennifer Simonetti announced. Cillay and Torres join Brown, Nielsen, Pink and Smith in the 2014 class.
Cillay, a 5-8 forward, led Pullman High School to two district championships. She was a four year soccer letter winner, and led the Great Northern League in scoring her senior year with 16 goals and five assists on the season. During her senior season, Cillay was named 1st Team All-League as a forward.
"Maddi is a great addition to our recruiting class,” said head coach Simonetti. “She adds a lot of speed up top, but also reads the game extremely well. She is skillful with the ball at her feet, but will also be dangerous getting to balls played in behind. Maddi will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our team."
Cillay also excelled off the field being named to the Academic All-Conference team three years in high school. Her soccer team was also named Academic State Champions in 2011 and 2012 and finished second in 2013.
Torres, a 5-2 defender from Vancouver, Wash., comes to EOU after four successful years playing at Hudson Bay High School. Torres was a four year member of the varsity team and earned First Team All-League her senior season and 2nd Team All-League during her sophomore year.
"Charli is another versatile player that can play in various areas on the field. She has great skill and control of the ball and vision that allows her to play quickly. She can play simple to keep possession or find dangerous plays going forward and will be a threat for us offensively and defensively."
Along with succeeding on the pitch, Torres has been named to the Hudson Bay High School Honor Roll, won the Distinguished Scholastic Award, and earned the Scholar Athlete Award all four years of high school.
