GENEVA, Ohio – The Eastern Oregon University men's and women's Indoor Track and Field team had a successful day one at the NAIA Indoor National Championships. EOU had the women's 4x400 meter relay team and Damion Flores in the 5K qualify for the finals, which will take place on Saturday.

In the men's 5K preliminaries Damion Flores finished third in the second heat, with the top four from each heat advanced to the finals. Flores was in the middle of the field in the final stretch of the 5K. With 150 meters left, Flores made his move and finished third with a time of 14:53.17 to advance to the finals on Saturday.

After day one in the heptathlon, Ryan Rosenau sits in ninth place with 2,641 points. Rosenau started the day with a personal record in the 60 meter dash as he ran a time of 7.25, which was the fifth best. Rosenau followed with a jump of 6.37 meters (20-10 ¾). He continued his personal records in the shot put as he broke his previous high by 37 centimeters, as he recorded a throw of 10.21 meters (33-6). Rosenau rounded out the day with a height of 1.86 meters (6-1 ¼), in the high jump.

The final event of the day for the Mountaineers was the women's 4x400 meter relay. EOU closed out the day with a school record as the 4x400 team ran a time of 3:52.01, which broke the previous school record by 4.41seconds. With the time, the Mountaineers qualified for the finals of the 4x400 relay finals on, which will be held on Saturday.

Day two of the NAIA Indoor National Championships begins tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. PT when the men's heptathlon resumes its action. Running and Field events start at 9 a.m. PT with the men's weight throw and the women's 3,000 meter walk.
