Davis has 8 RBI to Lead Tech to Sweep
ATHERTON, Calif. – Alyssa Davis drove in 8 runs as No. 25 Oregon Tech swept a pair of games today winning 8-0 in the first game over Menlo College and an identical 8-0 score over Antelope Valley University in game 2. Both games ended after 5-innings due to the mercy rule and were held at College Field.
Game 1 (Menlo) - Oregon Tech scored what would be the game winner on a passed ball in the first inning, as Shauna Collins walked to lead off the game, eventually scoring the game’s first run. Allysa Davis later doubled as Tech led 3-0 in their first at bat. Tech would tally a single run in the third with four more coming in the fourth, as Tech won 8-0 via the mercy-rule.
Cassidy Olson improved to 3-2 overall after tossing a complete-game one hit shutout in the opener. Olson fanned four, allowing her only hit with one out in the first inning. Alyssa Davis drove in four runs on two hits, both doubles, with Collins and Tre Sullivan adding doubles in the contest. Menlo pitching helped the Owls, allowing Tech eight walks.
Game 2 – (Antelope) – Oregon Tech took an early 1-0 lead as Shauna Collins scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Alyssa Davis in the bottom of the first inning. Davis would stay hot as she laced a bases loaded double off the right center wall as the Owls broke open the game scoring 5-runs in the 3
rd inning to take a 6-0 lead.
Jessi Duncan would pick the win in the circle as she improved to 2-2 on the season allowing just 1-hit, while striking out 8 over 5 innings. The game ended in the bottom of the 5
th, after Davis singled, freshman Sadie Birch connected on her first collegiate homerun a tower shot to deep left field giving Tech the mercy rule 8-0 win.
Oregon Tech will once again face both Menlo and Antelope Valley in single games on Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Atherton.
