Annual Event was postponed February 9th due to Hazardous Weather Conditions

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference will have several representatives at this year's Oregon Sports Awards show tonight at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. The annual event was posponed on its original February 9th date due to hazardous winter. travel conditions

The finalists for the 62nd annual event were announced and the CCC has four representatives. Corban University  and Southern Oregon University each have one finalist, while Concordia University has two.

The four individuals are in line for the Ad Rutschman Small College Athlete of the Year Award. Finalists for the female award include Corban's Stephanie Nippert-softball and  Concordia Gabriella Dixson- track/field and Hannah Kimsey- women's soccer. Southern Oregon's Mitch Lofstedt- wrestling, is a finalist for the male award. Lofstedt is a repeat finalist and past winner.

This award goes to the outstanding male and female student-athletes representing the state's 14 NCAA Division II and III, NAIA-affiliated colleges and universities, and 10 community colleges, in the calendar year 2013. (3 male and 3 female finalists)

Ad Rutschman guided Linfield College to four national championships, three in football and one in baseball, in 24 seasons. He is the only college coach at any level to win national titles in two different sports. A five-time Slats gill Award winner, he is a member of the College Football hall of Fame.

The Oregon Sports Awards began in 1948 as the Hayward Banquet of Champions, which was discontinued in 1997. In 2001, SportsOne revived the event as the Oregon Sports Awards with a stage-show format and more award categories, and moved the show to the state-of-the-art, 770-seat Stanford Theatre in the Tiger Woods Center at the Nike World Headquarters.
