PORTLAND, Ore.—After splitting a pair of 1-0 games on Sunday, Concordia and Corban each nabbed a win via a rout on Monday with Concordia posting a 9-1 win in the afternoon before falling to the Warriors in a rain-soaked affair in the evening contest.

The teams left the four-game series with identical marks in NAIA West region play, closing out the slate at 9-7 in league contests. Concordia ended the day with a 19-12 overall record while Corban will carry a 18-16 mark into next week's action.

Concordia will hit the road to face No. 3-ranked Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho on April 4-6. Corban will play cross-town rival Willamette on Tuesday before hosting Oregon Tech for a four-game set on April 4-5.

Game 1 – Concordia 9, Corban 1

Concordia scored in six straight innings to defeat Corban 9-1 in the first game of an NAIA West doubleheader on Monday.

Jordan Johansen led off the second with a double to left and scored two batters later after a sacrifice bunt by Benjamin Liogon and a sacrifice fly by Tyler Bennett for Corban's lone score.

The Cavs scored single runs in the third inning and one more in the next three frames before adding two in the seventh and three more in the eighth. Concordia pounded out 13 hits in the game to five for the visitors. Senior catcher Ben Talbot (Lacey, Wash./Timberline H.S.) went 3 for 4 for the Cavs while Blake Drake (Ramona, Calif./Ramona H.S.), Cole Pittman (Salem, Ore./West Salem H.S.) and Cole Buruse (Ridgefield, Wash./Skyview H.S.) each posted two-hit games.

Jon Yearout (Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River H.S.) improved to 4-2 on the season with a seven-inning outing. Yearout allowed four hits and one walk while striking out five batters. For the second straight day, Austin Hadley (Vancouver, Wash./Evergreen H.S.) closed out a Cavalier win. Hadley struck out three batters and allowed one hit while working the eighth and ninth innings.

Corban starter Rilyn Lewchuck took the loss after lasting five innings. Lewchuck allowed three runs, just two of which were earned, and struck out four.

Game 2 – Corban 12, Concordia 1

After Concordia struck for a single run in the home half of the first, Corban erupted with six runs in the second en route to a 12-1victory to even the season series with the Cavaliers.

The Warriors connected on five straight one-out hits, including a 2-run double by Landon Frost, and utilized a Concordia error to score three unearned runs to stake the large early lead.

With the advantage, Corban starter Tony Davidson continued to stymy the Cavs the rest of the way, allowing just two baserunners past first base over the final six frames to pick up his second win of the season.

Davidson allowed seven hits in the contest, but just four past the first inning.

Corban smacked 15 hits against the Concordia pitching staff with Frost leading the way with a 3 for 4 performance which included two RBI and three runs scored. Teammates Jordan Johansen and Marc Gallegos added two hits each.
